Best Adhesives for Pasting Paper-Based Laminates

Getting laminate application right starts with choosing the correct adhesive. The wrong glue can cause bubbling, edge lift, or complete delamination — costly mistakes that are hard to fix after the fact.

Fevicol SH (PVA White Glue)

India's go-to adhesive for laminate bonding. Applied to both substrate and laminate, allowed to become tacky, then pressed together with a roller or press. Best for flat surfaces and workshop production.

Contact Adhesive (Neoprene-Based)

Applied to both surfaces, allowed to dry partially, then bonded on contact. Ideal for site work, curved surfaces, and edge lamination where clamping is impractical.

PUR Hot Melt (Polyurethane Reactive)

Used in automated edge-banding machines. Creates an exceptionally strong, moisture-resistant bond — far superior to EVA hot melt. The standard in high-end modular furniture factories.

EVA Hot Melt

The basic hot melt used in entry-level edge-banding machines. Less moisture-resistant than PUR but adequate for dry interior applications.

Tips for Good Results

Always ensure surfaces are clean and dry before applying adhesive. Use adequate pressure during bonding — a rubber roller for manual application, or a press for flat panels. Allow proper curing time before trimming edges.
